DAY 2

Day 2 - Stockholm

Thursday, June 29th 2017, let’s get lost between the colourful buildings

For our second day, we left in the morning to visit the city of Stockholm. But first, we bought a 7 day pass at a subway station, which would allow us to move around freely using buses, trams, commuters trains and subways located in the area. At that moment, we were informed that a significant part of our cash would no longer be accepted after the 30th of june. This is because some swedish bills and coins had to be replaced with new ones, and unlike in France for example, the old ones would not remain and would not be tradable in currency exchange desks. Thankfully, we were heading towards the city centre, where plenty of stores were waiting for our money !

At 10 AM, we visited the island of Gamla Stan, which is the “old town” of Stockholm. It felt really good walking around the small alleys, with each building being more colourful than the last! You’ll also find plenty of souvenirs, design shops, and nice places to eat.

We then headed towards the Royal Palace. It’s a beautiful place and the guards standing still in front of it are pretty impressive.

As midday was approaching, we crossed a bridge towards the southern part of the city, Södermalm. We did not find many interesting things to see, and prefered the rest of the other parts of the capital, so we headed back.

We ate inside the Gallerian mall, where there’s a nice “amphitheater” meant for people to work, eat or just rest a bit (also, the free wi-fi is really fast !). There’s obviously plenty of shops, but it’s not a huge place so you’ll be able to quickly visit it without getting lost.

Finally, we went back in the city centre and discovered a shop with the name “Flying Tiger Copenhagen”, if you like shops with many cheap items, you’ll love it !

In the evening, we ordered a couple of pizzas at the “Lilla Rött” restaurant. The food there is really good, and you’ll have more than enough to not be hungry afterwards !
