Finland

DAY 1

Day 1 - Seurasaari

Saturday, July 8th 2017, the squirrel country

Our first awakening in Finland. We decided to head to the island of Seurasaari. At 10 AM, we arrived close to it. We crossed the bridge and started visiting the eastern side of the island.

The first thing we saw was the open-air museum. It allows you to learn more about traditional finnish life by seeing typical houses and farms dating back to the last 4 centuries. The architecture alone is worth the detour.

While we kept walking, we quickly realised that the forest we were currently standing in was filled with squirrels, who weren’t even bothered by our presence. We were even able to get very close to them and stroke one of them ! We saw that some trees had tiny cabins with food and water. It’s where we saw dozens and dozens of squirrels jumping from tree to tree. It’s a sight to see !

We then found a rock facing the sea where we could eat lunch. After that, we finished going around the island, with a few squirrels crossing our path.
